Our Story

After many years of searching we all agreed this was the place. Here, we could make magic.

Bordered by Lutteral Creek, which pertains to "Lutra", latin for otter, and means Fun, Creativity, Adpatbility and Joy..we knew we were home.  Both coniferous and maple-beech forests blanket the rising hillside, for 51 acres, and several protected rolling horse paddocks sit in their midst. Inspired by the creek's name, we named this special place Lutra Woodland Farm.

Wee decided this special place was to be shared by all,

We take pride in seeing the beauty in spaces, and professionally creating nature-based designs, that enhance the current biodiversity.

We hope you will enjoy our farm as much as we do. It is a very special place, where you are is nestled into nature, part of the every-changing seasons. There are many opportunities to get involved and call it your farm away from home with your community,  your horse, or your family.

Check out our events calendar and come visit us with your family for a day of fun at Lutra Woodland Farm.

Souhaila Sarkis

Souhaila is a life-long equestrian competitor and trainer. When she was 9, her dad took her and friend to a trail riding ranch. It was near Sudbury, in January and below -20C. "I guess he thought that would "fix" me, and it would be the end of it.". Well today, she is competing, coaching, and bringing along young and show horses, and investing in her own horses with sponsors to compete here and internationally.

A graduate from Landscape Architecture at Guelph, Souhaila chose to maintain both professions as she sees them as wonderful complements to each other. Her deep respect of nature created her niche of regenerative equestrian design. She started her business near her family roots in France, and now is either in the barn, riding , or creating new places or events to welcome you to the farm, from the biophilic farm studio.

She is both a Registered Landscape Architect and Full Member of the OALA and a licensed Coach with Equine Canada.

Gordon Skinner

Gordon also grew up and Sudbury and on meeting Souhaila, they adventured together, living in France and Bermuda, and finding great trails and forest in Ontario. He loves to spend time on mountain bikes and road bikes, enough that he cycled coast to coast! He has his own IT business in downtown Guelph, and oxygenates himself with lots of property maintenance on the farm.  Together, they are a synergy, raising their children on the farm.

Gordon's unexpected and witty humour draws people into whatever task is at hand.
